Lee MCCALL

News comes to us this morning that Mr. Lee McCall, one of No. 3 township's citizens, died Friday evening at 5 o'clock, of consumption.  Mr. McCall was a middle-aged man, supposed to be about 35 years old.  Mr. McCall has been married twice, the first time having married the daughter of Mr. Cornelius Overcash, and next married the widow of Mr. Samuel Johnston.  He leaves a wife and six children to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father.  His remains were interred this (Saturday) evening.   Source: "Another Citizen Dead," Daily Concord Standard, 19 February 1898, digital images, North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (http://www.digitalnc.org/collections/newspapers : accessed 6 October 2019).

Jane C. MCCOMBS

Sallie MCDONALD

John E. MAHAN

Died. In Concord, Cabarrus county, on the 26th inst. of a pulminary complaint, John E. James A. MEANS

Died. In Concord, on Monday morning, the 15th inst. after an illness of four days with the billious colic, James A. Means, Esq., high sheriff of Cabarrus county, and Colonel Comd't. of the Mecklenburg and Cabarrus regiment of Cavalary, in the 27th year of his age.  The death of Col. Means is no less an affliction to his numerous and highly respectable relatives, than it is a public bereavement to the county of which he was so useful and distinguished a citizen and native.  Perhaps no man in that county shared so largely in the confidence and affections of the people, as he did; and his public career evinced that that confidence was not misplaced.   Source: "Died," The Western Carolinian, 23 May 1826, digital images, North Carolina Digital Collections (http://digital.ncdcr.gov : accessed 17 July 2017).

William B. MEANS

Died. In Cabarrus county, after a short, but painful sickness, on Saturday 17th May, William B., son of Gen. Wm. and Mrs. Jane C. William G. MEANS

William G. Means, the well known Concord attorney, died in a Charlotte hospital on Friday evening.  He had been in ill health for some time and for two weeks very ill.  Mr. Means was one of the best known men of western North Carolina.  He was prominent in politics and had been mayor of Concord and represented his county in the Senate.  He is survived by a wife and seven children.  The remains will be buried in Concord.   Source: "Deaths," Carolina Watchman, 5 June 1918, digital images, Chronicling America (http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov : accessed 27 October 2019).

W. J. MONTGOMERY

Ex-Judge W. J. Sallie MOOSE

Sad news comes to us of the death of Mrs. Sallie Moose, the widow of Mr. John Moose of No. 6 township.  Her death resulted from heart failure and was very sudden.  She had eaten a hearty breakfast and ere long was seized with an attack of heart disease and died very suddenly.  Mrs. Moose was at least 60 years of age.  She was the mother of Mr. Harris Moose of No. 6 township, and was also the mother of Mr. Henry Graeber, of Rowan county.  She was also the mother of Mr. Weddington Moose, who died only a short while ago.  The funeral of the remains was preached today (Monday) at Mt. Mollie MORGAN

Mrs. Mollie Morgan died at the home of her son, Jodie Morgan, Sunday, November 2nd.  It was a shock to her many friends and relatives, as she was only sick a short while.  She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, one son, seven grandchildren, one brother and one sister.  Funeral services were held at Cold Water Baptist Church and interment was made in the cemetery of the church.   Source: "Route Seven," The Concord Daily Tribune, 14 November 1924, digital images, North Carolina Digital Heritage Center (http://www.digitalnc.org/collections/newspapers : accessed 14 September 2019).

W. Henry MURPH

W. Henry Murph, aged 59, died this morning at 9:50 o'clock at his home at the Brown Mill.  He had been ill three weeks and death was caused by heart trouble.  Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock and interment will be made in the cemetery at Smith's chapel.  Mr. Murph was born in Cabarrus County on January 5, 1861, a son of the late John Murph.  His wife before marriage was Miss Sarah Baker.  The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons, John and Charlie Murph, and three daughters, Mrs. Lula Parish and Mrs. Vergie McLarn, of Concord, and Mrs. Charlie Reggins, of China Grove.   Source: "Death of W.
