Born Feb. 12, 1886, in Cabarrus Co.  Parents: Soloman Monroe and Mary (Cress) Ritchie.  Educated: M.P.C.I., Newberry Coll., A.B. 1909; Southern Sem., 1913.  Married Alma Ridenhour, Cabarrus Co., Dec. 28, 1910.  Children: Harold A., Voigt, Eugene, Grover Oscar, Jr., Paul E.  Ordained 1913 by N.C. Synod.  Churches served: Salem-Grace, Rowan Co., 1913-1918; Faith-Emmanuel, Faith, 1918-19, Faith only, 1919-26; supplied Wittenberg, Granite Quarry, 1922-26; Grace, Thomasville, 1926-37.  Member, Board of Childrens Home, 1931-37.  Died four days before 51st birthday, Feb. 8, 1937; buried at St. John Church, Cabarrus Co.   Source: Life Sketches of Lutheran Ministers, North Carolina and Tennessee Synods, 1773-1965 (Columbia, South Carolina: The State Publishing Company, 1966), 173.
